Zero five antennas installation11/4/2023 ![]() ![]() ZEROFIVE-ANTENNAS 43 FOOT 10 THROUGH 160 METER MULTIBAND VERTICAL INSTALLATION NOTES Thanks for your purchase of this antenna. Residing in a city environment and in a country with unpredictable and severe weather conditions almost all year round requires practical planning based on environmental factors, location, and experience. ![]() ![]() We hope that you’ll look over the instructions and tips provided before you install the antenna. Taking advantage of this information will help to make your installation easier and much more reliable. I decided on a modest installation choosing a monoband vertical made from aircraft-grade aluminum for my HF 20M needs. This antenna was purchased from Zero-Five in the U.S. and has served me without a flaw for the past 10 years. No radials are required since the roof below the installation is covered with metal plates thus providing excellent counterpose. The antenna is guyed with three thin ropes intended for marine use and can withstand almost 500kg of tension. The coax cable in use is a MILSPEC RG-213.Īn end-fed HF multiband antenna was selected as a compromise antenna for 80M-6M needs. It has served me well mainly on 80M but has also proven itself to be a satisfactory DX antenna on other bands as well. Verticals are noisy, nothing to dispute there, non resonant verticals do not lower the ground noise, that is myth. An inverted L will work better than that Zero five vertical with that much ground radials. The VHF/UHF antenna is made by Diamond with an “N” connector. With 3500 feet of ground radials a wet noodle will work for an antenna Congrats on your ground. The coax cable in use is the LMR-400 (low loss). Last but not least, the fourth antenna in use is made by Dressler for monitoring use only. The above-mentioned antennas and setup have so far withstood all elements of the harsh Icelandic winters.
